Iceland: Trip Report
I asked the girls which tropical destination they wanted to go to and they said none. Long story short we all settled on Iceland, it wasn't tropical and was on my list of places I really wanted to visit. Iceland seems to be the new "hot" place to go.
I was a little apprehensive about going to Iceland in the spring as it would still be pretty cold. Well, it was. temps in mid-April were in the mid 30's during the day dropping down below freezing over night. We were lucky with a fair amount of clear skies but it also depends where you are. Reykjavik was often overcast but an hour away would be clear.
This time of year the days are already pretty long with it still being fairly light out until about 10pm. It didn't get really dark until close to midnight. That means we had pretty good chances of seeing the Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights.
We flew Iceland Air direct from Chicago which takes about 6 hours.
Iceland is on GMT/London time so there's that too.
