This ended up being our final day of dives in the Cancun Area. We got picked up by Juan Carlos at our hotel bright and early and hit the road for the roughly 90 minute drive to Dos Ojos which is not far from Tulum.

Once at the site we parked and missed the crowds. There was only one other group there before us. We geared up and walked down to the cenote mostly suited up. We just had to get to the platform, pop on the fins and go. We did a quick bouyancy check and even though we all used far less weight, we all sank like rocks in the fresh water.

I had expected there to be more light during the dives but many parts were almost completely dark without the lights. The highlights were the openings that were light skylights, you could see light and some trees above. Max depth was only about 27'.

The kids ended up not liking the first dive, they weren't comfortable with the close quarters and felt a little clausterphobic so they sat out the second dive. The second dive was a different branch of the cave network that was a little tighter in spots and the destination was a place known as the Bat Cave. Not surprisingly the cave did have a bunch of bats hanging from the ceiling. We ascended in the bat cave, rested a bit and checked out the bats. We then descended and did a very shallow route back. Max depth for the entire dive was only 31' but the trip back was shallower than 20'. Made bouyancy control that much harder.
