We stayed at the Marriott Puebla which was decent enough as a business travel hotel but not exactly convenient for tourism.

When we got in we took a cab to the city center, specifically to see the Rosary Chapel (Capilla del Rosario) which was amazing. It is one of the most blinged-out churches anywhere in the world, let alone Mexico. The main church is pretty standard but the real treasure is a small-ish chapel off to the side. There are some amazing paintings and then just about all the decor is covered in gold. Even thought it was late afternoon the chapel still glittered.

After that we walked around town and ended up in the main town square adjacent to the Cathedral of Puebla (Cathedral Basilica de Puebla). Since it was Sunday the square was full of people, mostly families enjoying the day together. There were all sorts of street musicians, people selling balloons and toys and even some weird clowns doing a show for the kids.

We ended the day at the Fonda Santa Clara restaurant for some local Mole Pablano dishes. Very good.
