When I bought my car used years ago I never really like the wood grain dash and especially didn't like the wood steering wheel. Especially on the track it seemed a bit slippery and certainly didn't inspire confidence. During my most recent track event the wheel did slip through my fingers for a moment and then I was convinced it was finally time to do something about it.

I looked around and a real GT-3 wheel was over $1500. Not really worth it and I didn't like aftermarket wheels because that would mean losing the airbag. I eventually found a seller on eBay (DCT MotorSports) who retrofits real 996 steering wheels and can custom cover the wheel with your choice of materials. I choose a dark gray alcantra with a yellow stripe at the 12:00 o'clock position.
